Hāwera comes alive this summer with a family-focused raceday that keeps the racing front and centre, with plenty happening around the track to make a full day of it. It’s an easy, relaxed Sunday where you can enjoy live harness racing while the kids get stuck into a stack of activities nearby.

There’s a big mix of classic Kiwi games and competitions running through the afternoon, including swing ball, sack races, egg-and-spoon races, tug of war, grass ski races, ten pin bowling, cornhole, ring toss, giant Connect 4, Jenga, and noughts and crosses. Kids can also take part in sulky races, with prizes handed out across the day.

You’ll also see Kidz Kartz on track, with young drivers racing during the day, always a fun watch between races.

Food is sorted too, with an on-course food caravan offering a range of affordable options, making it easy to settle in and enjoy the day.
