There's something special about racing at Kaikōura. Horses thundering down the home straight, crowds lining the fence, and the mountains and sea providing a backdrop you won't find at any other racecourse.
Monday's feature is the Kaikōura Cup, one of the final major lead-ups to the New Zealand Trotting Cup. Some of the country's leading pacers will be out to make their mark before heading to Addington.
There's plenty happening away from the track too, with food and drinks on course, a best-dressed competition and spaces to settle in with friends for the afternoon.

There's plenty for younger racegoers to enjoy, with children's entertainment usually including a bouncy castle, face painting and balloon creations. And with under-18s getting in free, it's an easy day out for the whole family.

Find your spot beside the track, watch the racing and enjoy the atmosphere. There's also a best-dressed competition and Punters Club, plus gazebo sites and mini marquees for groups wanting their own space.
