More Than Just a Night at the Races
Firsties is a special race night at Addington designed for anyone who is new to the trots, has only been a couple of times, or is simply looking for a Friday night experience that's a little different from the usual.
With free entry, live harness racing under lights, live music throughout the night, food and drink specials, and behind-the-scenes experiences, Firsties is all about making the trots easy to enjoy.
You don't need to know the rules, understand the form guide, or have ever watched a race before. Whether you're coming with mates, a date, workmates, or flying solo, you'll find a welcoming atmosphere, friendly hosts, and plenty of opportunities to get closer to the horses, trainers, and drivers that make the sport what it is.
Throughout the night you'll be able to explore the dedicated Firsties area, enjoy stable tours, ask questions, meet the people behind the horses, and experience a side of race night most visitors don't usually get to see.

Need to Know
Do I need to know anything about racing?
Not at all. You don't need to be a racing expert to enjoy the night. Our Firsties Host will be there to answer questions, explain what's happening, and help you get the most out of the experience.
Do I have to bet?
Nope. Betting’s totally optional. You can simply enjoy the racing, the atmosphere, and the night out.
What should I wear?
Whatever you're comfortable in. There's no dress code, so whether that's jeans and sneakers or something a little dressier, you'll fit right in.
What time should I arrive?
We recommend arriving from 6pm so you can settle into the Firsties Lounge, grab a drink, and make the most of everything happening before the racing gets underway.
How long do I have to stay?
It’s completely up to you. Stay for a couple of races or make a full night of it.
How do I get there?
Addington Raceway is easy to get to, with plenty of free onsite parking available. Ride shares and taxis are also readily available.
Can I bring friends who aren't registered?
Yes. We'd love you to register ahead of time, but if you decide to bring a mate along at the last minute, they can register when they arrive.
What's included with my registration?
