Do you need to stay for the whole thing?
Nope.
One of the handy things about a day or night at The Trots is that you can come and go when it suits you.
A race meeting runs across several hours, but unlike a rugby game or concert, there’s no expectation that you need to be there from the first race until the last.
HOW LONG DOES A MEETING GO FOR?
A typical meeting has around 10–12 races, usually spaced about 25–30 minutes apart, so the full programme can run across an afternoon or evening.
That doesn’t mean you need to watch every race. You might arrive early and settle in for the whole meeting, or turn up later and catch just a few.
PICK THE PART THAT SUITS YOU
Coming after work? You can arrive for dinner and a few races.
Meeting friends later in the day? Check the race times and work out when you want to get there.
If there’s a particular horse, driver or feature race you want to see, it’s worth checking the programme first so you don’t miss it.
CHECK THE PROGRAMME
Race times are available before the meeting, so you can see how the day or night is laid out before you arrive.
You can find the programme online, and every meeting also has race books available on course.
If there’s a particular horse, driver or feature race you want to see, check the programme first and plan around that.
The bits worth remembering
There’s no right amount of time to spend at The Trots.
Stay for the whole meeting if you’re enjoying yourself, or come along for a couple of races, something to eat and a catch-up with mates.
Check the programme if there’s something specific you want to see, then plan the rest around what works for you.
