What do you wear to the Trots?
Most of the time, whatever you’d normally wear for a day or night out is absolutely fine.
Regular race meetings are generally relaxed and casual. The big race days can be a bit more dressed up, but there’s no need to go full race-day fashion unless you want to.
REGULAR RACEDAYS
For a normal weekly meeting, think casual and comfortable.
Jeans, sneakers, a jacket, work clothes after a Friday shift — you’ll see all of it.
If you’re heading trackside, it’s worth bringing an extra layer. Racecourses can get pretty chilly once the sun goes down.
The Big Days
Bigger race days are often more of an occasion, so plenty of people choose to dress up.
You’ll see everything from suits and dresses to smart-casual outfits, but you still don’t have to dress a certain way to be there.
If getting dressed up is part of the fun for you, go for it. If not, you’ll be fine keeping it simple.
Sunday Race Days
At some venues, you’ll spend more of the day outside and may be walking or standing on grass.
Comfortable shoes are a good idea, and in summer it pays to dress for the weather, bring sun protection and have an extra layer handy if you’re staying into the evening.
Think practical and comfortable, especially if you know you’ll be spending plenty of time trackside.
THE BITS WORTH REMEMBERING
There’s no single dress code for The Trots.
Regular meetings are usually casual, big days can be more dressed up, and Sunday meetings are best approached with the weather and ground conditions in mind.
The main thing is to wear something you’ll be comfortable in for the kind of meeting you’re going to.
