Who goes to the Trots?
Pretty much anyone.
A typical day or night at The Trots brings together a real mix of people: mates catching up, families, after-work groups, racing regulars and people who’ve never been before.
You don’t need to know anything about racing to fit in. Turn up, find a spot and enjoy it your way.
First Time? You won't be the only one
Not everyone at the track knows the horses, the drivers or how betting works — and nobody expects you to.
Some people follow every race closely. Others pick a horse because they like the name, watch a couple of races and spend most of the day catching up with friends.
There’s no test at the gate. You can learn as much or as little about the racing as you want.
REGULARS, FAMILIES AND EVERYONE IN BETWEEN
Racing has plenty of long-time followers, and you’ll often see regulars who know the horses and drivers inside out.
You’ll also see families, groups of friends, people straight from work and newcomers figuring it out as they go.
That mix is part of what makes a race meeting what it is. You don’t have to become a racing expert to be part of it.
BIG DAYS AND REGULAR RACEDAYS
Not every day at The Trots looks the same.
The big race days can bring bigger crowds, more atmosphere and plenty of people dressing up for the occasion.
At a regular weekly meeting, things are usually much more relaxed. You might see families, groups of mates, people straight from work and long-time racing regulars all watching from the same part of the track.
Either way, there’s no need to feel like you have to know the sport or look a certain way to fit in.
THE BITS WORTH REMEMBERING
There isn’t one kind of person who goes to The Trots.
Some people come for the racing, some for the social side and plenty enjoy a bit of both. Big days can feel like an event; regular meetings are usually much more casual.
You don’t need to know the horses, understand the betting or have been before. Just come along and work it out as you go.
