COUNTRY RACING WITH PLENTY OF HISTORY
Just outside central Ashburton, Ashburton Raceway combines the relaxed atmosphere of a country raceday with some of New Zealand's top harness racing.
Known for its fast track, Ashburton hosts several feature races throughout the year, including the Ashburton Flying Stakes, an important lead-up to the New Zealand Trotting Cup.
Bring along family or friends, find a spot on the grass to enjoy the racing, or watch from the grandstand. You can also take a look through the racecourse's Harness Racing Museum, which is open on trotting club racedays.
