Bring a picnic and settle in beside the track, or choose from the food and drink stalls on course. Previous meetings have featured everything from burgers and wood-fired pizzas to whitebait, ice cream and coffee. There's also a public bar, and responsible BYO alcohol is permitted.

Omakau's January meeting is a casual outdoor raceday, so dress for a warm Central Otago summer afternoon. Bring a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses, and consider bringing a deck chair or picnic blanket if you're planning to stay for the day.

Absolutely. Omakau has a full programme of free children's entertainment, with previous meetings featuring bouncy castles, mini jeeps, obstacle courses, scavenger hunts, games and the annual lolly scramble. Under-18s also get free entry.
