Need to Know
Do I need to know anything about racing?
Not at all. You don’t need to be a racing expert to enjoy the night. Our friendly Firsties Host will explain how it all works and make sure you feel right at home.
Do I have to bet?
Nope. Betting’s totally optional. The Punters Club gives everyone a share in the excitement, even if you never place a bet yourself.
What should I wear?
There’s no dress code, just come as you are. From jeans and sneakers to frocks and shirts, The Trots is all about relaxed, social fun.
What time should I arrive?
Gates open at 5PM and the action kicks off soon after. Most people arrive between 5 and 6 to grab a drink, find their spot, and settle in.
How long do I have to stay?
It’s completely up to you. The night runs from around 5:00pm to 10:00pm, but you can come and go whenever you like, stay for a few races or make a full night of it.
How do I get there?
It’s easy! There’s free parking at Alexandra Park, or you can grab a quick bus (route 30, 321, 65, N10 and 309), taxi or Uber to Greenlane. The venue’s central and easy to find, so getting there (and home) is simple.
